UberEATS launches in Spain

Uber is announcing the launch of UberEATS in Barcelona, Spain. UberEATS is an on-demand food delivery platform that delivers the best meals from the best local restaurants in under 10 minutes.

A leading technology company, Uber is constantly innovating, and exploring new services for the on-demand economy. Uber previously launched this platform as UberFRESH in Los Angeles. For its first international launch, Uber has selected Barcelona under a new name, UberEATS.

The UberEATS service will be available seven days a week for both lunch and dinner, offering a daily selection of the best meals from across the city. To order a meal, users need to open the Uber app and tap on the UberEATS icon. Like all Uber services it is fully cashless and GPS-tracked so you can watch your food arrive in real-time via the app. UberEATS is now available in central Barcelona and Uber is working hard to expand to other neighbourhoods soon.

With an estimated wait time of 10 minutes, UberEATS is one of the fastest on-demand food service in the world. By connecting people more quickly to restaurants, UberEATS creates new economic opportunities for local independent businesses to expand in Barcelona, as well as local drivers who deliver the meals.

In partnership with Plateselector, one of the most recognised restaurant websites in Spain, Uber has selected the best local and independent restaurants to offer meals on the UberEATS platform in under ten minutes. Examples of launch restaurants include Surf House Barcelonaand Feeld Organic, both known for their quality dishes.

Johann Wald, Plateselector co-founder said:

"Plateselector is excited to be a part of this collaboration with Uber, an internationally renowned brand. We are fans of their app and are looking forward to contributing our expertise to the UberEATS dining experience".

Alex Knoepfel, owner of Surf House Barcelona, said:

“I am very happy to be collaborating with a business like Uber. With the UberEATS platform, I am creating opportunities to grow and reach new customers, so more people can know about Surf House Barcelona.”

Carles Lloret, Uber Spain General Manager said:

“Uber is committed to innovating and bringing new benefits to the people of Spain. UberEATS will make ordering food more convenient for customers, increase the reach for restaurants and increase economic opportunities for drivers. Many of the restaurants we have partnered with have previously been unable to offer a delivery option. With UberEATS we can connect restaurants to a network of delivery drivers and open new opportunities for growth.”

For more information on the service, Uber has launched a new websitewww.ubereats.es that contains our daily selection of meals and a step-by-step guide on how to use the service so you can go from hungry to happy in less than 10 minutes.
