Cavan School Pioneers Blended Learning Approach to Project Maths

E-learning Collaboration Launched by with St Mogue’s College, Bawnboy

St Mogue’s College has signed a licencing agreement with to use their high-tech online learning system to support Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate students at the school.

Custom-built for the new Project Maths syllabus, is the first comprehensive e-learning system for maths in Ireland.  St Mogue’s College is the first secondary school to harness the system as part of a blended learning approach, whereby classroom teaching is complemented by online learning and support.  This blended approach is considered the gold standard of education at third level, but has not been implemented at secondary level in Ireland until now.

Cormac Flynn, deputy principal of St Mogue’s College, said

We licenced to enable us to provide blended learning for Project Maths at our school.  Our students use the online system to access maths learning and support at home, which complements the high quality classroom teaching and learning within our maths department. This approach facilitates self-directed learning by the students and builds up their maths confidence and ability. Licencing has been a very positive step for our school, and our students, parents and teachers are very happy with the benefits of the blended approach.
