West of Ireland Focus - Galway start-up Meterlogix launches UK company

Galway-based energy monitoring and management start-up Meterlogix has launched a UK company as part of its initial expansion into Europe.
Established in December of last year, Meterlogix now employs four people in Ireland and five in the UK.
Meterlogix has developed an energy management system which enables business owners view their power consumption live. Being live, the system can be used to establish baselines to effectively manage down power usage.
“As a technology company, borders are not a barrier to us,” said managing director Ollie Walsh. “So from the very beginning of the planning for Meterlogix, Ireland was a launch pad into bigger markets. Ireland is an important market to us, but was never going to be our destination.
“The model we have developed for the business was planned for scalability from the start, so once we had our product and service offering complete, we could immediately look at international markets.”
