DataSolutions and Symantec agree to security partnership for Irish growth

DataSolutions, Ireland's leading value-added IT
distributor, today announced a new distribution agreement with Symantec,
a global leader in security, backup and availability solutions. The new
partnership will provide Symantec with access to DataSolutions'
dedicated network of resellers, opening up new opportunities to help
Irish businesses to protect their information in a data-driven world and
mitigate against today's constantly evolving security threats.

In 2012, Symantec was ranked in the top 50 of the Irish Times Top 1000
Companies* in Ireland. Its offices in Dublin house one of the company's
five global threat response centres, staffed by cutting-edge security
researchers, working to identify and analyse emerging Internet security
threats and develop solutions to solve worldwide IT security challenges.

A key driver behind the new partnership is the ever evolving IT
landscape and the wider adoption of new technologies such as cloud,
mobility and virtualisation as a result of cost reduction and
consolidation requirements. This is creating new challenges for
business and increasing the demand for security solutions that not only
enable the integration of these new technologies but also offer
information protection as cyber threats are on the rise.

According to Symantec's 2011 Internet Security Threat Report**, Symantec
blocked more than 5.5 billion malware attacks in 2011, a substantial
increase of 81% since 2010. The vast adoption of social networks was
highlighted as a central reason behind this, as social networking sites
provide fertile ground for cyber criminals.

DataSolutions has identified significant growth opportunities in the
Irish IT security market and will place a particular focus on Symantec's
data loss prevention, threat and risk management, enterprise security,
information and identity protection and cloud offering within the Irish
market.

Michael O'Hara, managing director, DataSolutions said, "With such a wide
portfolio of leading security solutions, there are large opportunities
for Symantec here in Ireland. We will be working closely with Symantec
and our trusted network of resellers to target substantial new business
opportunities in the IT security space.

"We are excited about this partnership and will be showcasing the
Symantec security portfolio at the Secure Computing Forum tomorrow, the
7th March 2013 in the Gibson Hotel. We are confident of our ability to
support Symantec in further developing its business with Irish
companies."

Lorcan Kavanagh, director, Symantec Ireland said, "The Irish market is
being driven by developments including cloud and mobility and in
particular the ever growing 'bring your own device' trend, which
presents a continued growth opportunity.

"This partnership with DataSolutions is testament to our commitment to
helping organisations across Ireland to protect their business and
information from an increasingly intricate web of security threats. Our
combined expertise, technical skills and the best-of-breed Symantec
security solutions will significantly benefit both partners and,
ultimately, our customers."
