Silicon Ireland Dinner - A Success!

Thanks to all who came to the first Silicon Ireland Dinner. It was great to have a 'hungry' selection of startups in the same room. Well done to Frederick for the intro's and the free wine!

It is important that the contacts made at a dinner like this are kept live so we ask that you keep checking back to this site, and or email any progress made from the dinner. So far I think it was a great way to meet other entrepreneurs in a easy going manner. I also loved the way we changed places - that was 'clever' .

So to all I thank you again.

IT PRO Blogging Questions from Apple Live event

Chris Green from IT PRO of Dennis Publications covered the event. Silicon Ireland watched the live feed and even got a question in about Steve Jobs health.

' [Comment From Silicon Ireland]
Does Steve Jobs look any better after his last appearance?

7:02 I've been struggling with how to put this. I for one am less than comfortable with the thin and gaunt look of Steve in today's presentation. He make a joke about the speculation over his health at the beginning. But it has to be said, given how he currently looks, you can understand why people are concerned. '

Cyber World Games 2008 (Ireland)

Well Saturday was busy and the Cyber World Games was very good. Perhaps not as glitzy as last year, but the interaction and extra seminars and tutorials was excellent.

In only its 3 year it is now attracting some serious sponsorship and this means that in another couple of years Gaming pro's in Ireland will be the norm.

Creative Camp Belfast

Another sign of things changing is the amount of people in the tech industry willing to get together on a weekend and spend the day talking about things like, funding startups or co-working. Well thats whats taking place in Belfast on Sat 6th, Sept.

Its a 'Unconference' and we decided it was a good idea to pop over and take a look.

If you too are interested then please check out there site:

1st of September 2008

Well August ended on a very quiet note and we decided to leave it that way. The push through the summer gave us time to establish Silicon Ireland and get our first events up and running.

We are now looking ahead to the future, and we are excited by what we have to offer.

We are planning some joint tie-up events, with other 'tech meetup' groups who perhaps do things slightly differently to us. But together they will be bigger and hopefully better events by bringing more community to the concept.

'Community' is such an important part of the Tech community in Ireland and so we will also be looking to help promote and establish links with Co-Working organisations in Ireland, who are progressing with Co-Working Hubs.....

We hope to bring more information on Tech Startups in Ireland and develop our Silcion Intelligence service into something meaningful and useful for people to use.

So this is where we start again, with some new ideas and some new links to provide a better platform for people interested in the Tech community in Ireland like we are.
